The film's co-producer John cut the trailer to the film, using an Angelo Badalamenti track from the Twin Peaks soundtrack as his initial temp track.  John also wanted all hell to break loose about forty seconds in.  I took "The Stranger" theme and added some jazzy drums and harmonic wind sounds to replace the Badalamenti temp track.  I then added a very bellicose-sounding arrangment of "Mors" for the climactic part of the trailer.  Finally, I eased the end of the song with the ending of "Robert."

Go to the front page of mutinyuniverse.com (for the time being) to see the trailer and hear the music!

If I had to choose one strange orchestral piece in the film as my favorite, it would be this song.  It's a bit disappointing that only a few bars in the middle are used in the film.  At the risk of being "that guy" who pats himself on the back for producing a song, let me break down the song to its parts:

1. It begins with something that personally gives me the "We're not in Kansas anymore" feeling - a piano, tubular bells, and dissonant strings finding harmony at the end of the intro.

2. There's an orchestral calm before the storm.

3. It builds to a slightly off-key "Robert" interpolation.

4. It climaxes into a tribal/choral chant:  "This home you were saving" are repeated a few times, in reference to a deleted concept from the director.  Jason wanted to burn down a cabin and film it.  Unfortunately, we lacked the time to do such a feat.  This same choir is reused near the beginning of the track "Élan Vital."

5. It descends into an orchestral/synthetic reprise of "The Drone."

This is essentially a reprise of the theme of conflict in 4/4 time like "Ideologically Dissimilar" (which is similar to the "Mors" theme of conflict in vaguely 5/4 or 10/8 time).

This track is essentially three musical snippets played during one (or more) of the character Steve's rants (played by Mike Onofri).

This is the complete "Somnus" waltz, but in Eb.  If I remember correctly, the earlier version posted here was in Ab.  Anyhow, this is followed by a brief rendition of "Mors."  In the film, however, we only get to hear the first few bars of "Somnus," followed by two tracks performed by moxy phinx (Katrina Lenk, who also plays Christine in the film).
