Aside from the website being temporarily down, the biggest login issue involves your browser, JavaScript, and namespace. In other words, before you log onto myMU, make sure the URL in your browser's address bar begins with http://mutinyuniverse.com/mu/ without the www subdomain and including the final backslash. If you log onto the site from http://www.mutinyuniverse.com/mu/ you may receive a strange error message or not have your myMU menu options displayed, depending on your browser.
Another way to remedy this problem is to click on the Home link, or any other Site Navigation link. The myMU menu options should appear correctly.
Here are some things to keep in mind when creating/editing your myMU profile:
Unregistered users can see your profile if you have written a published article at mutinyuniverse.com, commented on a published article, or if you are friends with a published mutinyuniverse.com writer. Unregistered users can see your profile's About Me section, Articles tab, and Connections (friends) tab.
Registered users have access to all of the above, as well as the list of all users (Browse Users), your profile's Additional Info tab, and your profile's Comments tab. Profile Comments (or "Profile Book") show the IP address of each commenter.
We are working hard to improve privacy at mutinyuniverse.com, or as much as the Internet allows. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.
Newly registered users cannot submit news. Please contact us if you want to submit news.
If you are a given Author status: (1) Log onto myMU, (2) click Submit News, (3) write your article, (4) save your article by clicking on the Floppy Disk (remember those?) icon near the top-right of the page, and (5) wait for the Publishers, Managers, or Administrators to peer-review and publish your article. Depending on our Publishers' workload, the review process should be quick. Spam and material unfitting for mutinyuniverse.com (and it takes a lot to get to that point) will not be published. It should be easy to have a published article on mutinyuniverse.com - we might even feature your article on the front page of the website!
Some Authors will be promoted to Publishers, who are able to self-publish new articles. To publish: (1) Scroll down the Submit News page after you are done writing an article, (2) click the Publishing tab, (3) change the pull-down State menu to "Published," and (4) save your article.
Managers and Administrators can publish articles, and more.
The link above goes to the author's myMU profile. Yes, mutinyuniverse.com is now one of the many websites that are also ad hoc social networks. We're not going to pretend to compete with the established juggernauts MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, and all the other sites that are popular in various continents and regions of the world. So here's the deal: At mutinyuniverse.com, you can set up a profile, add friends, comment on your friends' profiles, comment on almost every mutinyuniverse.com article, and submit news if you are given the "privilege" to do so. In turn, other people in this basic social network can do the same. Eventually, we'll add member-only perks (such as exclusive downloads) to sweeten the deal. Possibly. Theoretically.
Registered or not, now everyone can comment on almost every news, production, and podcast articles on this website! Of course, there are (or will be) advantages to registering for myMU, such as special downloads, the ability to submit news stories, and other elite features. Speaking of which, what kind of website features would you want to have at mutinyuniverse.com?
